On May 12, 2026 at 4:00 PM our colleague, attorney-at-law Marieke Mattern, will give a lecture at Leibniz University Hannover as part of the "Automated Systems" lecture series on the current topic "Contractual Regulations for the Use of Artificial Intelligence". The event is organized by the Interdisciplinary Institute for Automated Systems e.V. (RifaS) and the Chair of Civil Law, European and International Business Law (Prof. Dr. Buck-Heeb).
Despite the introduction of the European AI Regulation, significant legal uncertainties persist regarding the handling of AI functions and AI-generated content. For legally compliant use and exploitation of AI, it is therefore crucial that providers and users establish clear, transparent, and comprehensive contractual regulations to adequately manage risks and protect their respective interests.
The lecture aims to provide an overview of the essential aspects to be considered in contractual arrangements related to AI. The focus will be particularly on the structuring of usage rights, liability issues, and data and trade secret protection. Additionally, practical recommendations for contract drafting will be presented.
Participation is possible both in person and online via Webex.
